Opening of the Temple Sanctuary and the Preaching Hall by His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith

Unveiling of the Commemoration Plaques at the opening of the Temple Sanctuary and the Preaching Hall was done by His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo at the Uttamarama Temple, Udammita, Seeduwa. Addressing the gathering His Eminence said "Some people speak eloquently about re-building a new Sri Lanka in which the society is ensured of equality and freedom to all citizens. Though we need to develop the country, it cannot be done by betraying our ancient civilization, history, culture and human values which have been nurtured for many generations. May all races and people with various religious beliefs living in this country unite to build a righteous new nation of Sri Lanka".

Most Venerable Supreme Erudite Scholar Kotugoda Dhammawasa Thero, Chief Prelate of Sri Lanka, Amarapura Maha Sanga Sabha, presided at the ceremony together with Most Venerable Kolonnawe Sirisumanagala Thero, Chief Prelate of the Sirisumana Chapter of the Amarapura Maha Nikaya, Venerable Madampagama Assiji Thero, Registrar, Amarapura Maha Nikaya, and Most Venerable Udammita Assaji Tissa, Chief Incumbent of the Temple. Fr. Sriyananda Fernando, Parish Priest of Kotugoda and Fr. Deninton Subasinghe, Secretary Administration, Archdiocese of Colombo were present on the occasion.
